This policy explains what personal information UnderstoodMe collects, why, who we share it with, and the privacy rights you have — including specific rights for residents of California, Washington, and other US states with consumer-privacy laws.

Who we are

The information we collect

• Quiz answers, including health-related information. Our quiz asks about symptoms you may be experiencing (for example sleep, mood, energy and other perimenopause-related symptoms), how long they have lasted, and how they affect your relationship. We treat this as consumer health dataand give it heightened protection — see “Health-related data” below.
• Contact and personalization details.Your email address and, optionally, your first name and your partner’s first name, used to write your report and letter.
• Purchase data. Order details and payment status. Card details are handled by our payment processor — we never see or store your full card number.
• Usage and device data. Pages viewed, quiz progress, and standard technical data (IP address, device/browser, cookie and advertising identifiers) where you have consented.

How we use your information

• To build and deliver your personalized report and letter. We use your quiz answers to generate them. Because this involves health-related information, we collect and use it only with your consent, which you give on the consent screen before the quiz. You can withdraw that consent at any time (see your rights below).
• To take payment and provide access — to fulfill your purchase and to meet our legal, tax, and accounting obligations.
• To send service emails (order confirmation, access links, a single feedback request) so we can deliver and support your purchase.
• To send reminder/marketing emails if you gave us your email but did not buy — every email has a one-click unsubscribe, and you can opt out at any time.
• Analytics and advertising measurement (e.g. Meta and Google) — only with your consent via the cookie banner. We share a hashed (irreversibly scrambled) version of your email and standard event data with advertising platforms to measure and target ads. We do not sell or share your quiz answers or any health-related data with advertising platforms.

Who we share it with

We use a small number of trusted service providers that act on our instructions:

• Payment processing (Stripe).
• Email delivery (Resend).
• Application hosting and database (Vercel and Neon).
• AI text generation (Anthropic) to produce your written report and letter — your quiz answers are processed to generate them and are not used to train third-party models.
• Advertising and analytics platforms (Meta, Google), only with your consent and only the limited, non-health data described above.

We do not sell your personal information for money. As described below, sharing data with advertising platforms for targeted advertising may count as a “sale” or “sharing” under some state laws — you can opt out of that at any time.

Health-related data (heightened protection)

Your quiz answers about symptoms and how they affect you are consumer health data. Laws such as Washington State’s My Health My Data Act (and similar laws in Nevada and elsewhere) require your consent before we collect or use this data and give you the right to withdraw consent and have it deleted.

• We collect health-related quiz answers only after you give consent on the screen before the quiz.
• We use them solely to generate your report and letter and to support your purchase.
• We do not sell your health data or quiz answers to advertisers, data brokers, or anyone else, and we do not use them for targeted advertising.
• You can withdraw consent and ask us to delete your health-related data at any time by emailing support@understoodme.com.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and product data for as long as you have access to it, and your quiz/health data only as long as needed to provide and improve your report and letter. We keep order records for as long as tax law requires. You can ask us to delete your data at any time (subject to those legal retention duties).

Your privacy rights (all US residents)

Regardless of where you live in the US, you can ask us to:

• access a copy of the personal information we hold about you;
• correct inaccurate information;
• delete your information;
• opt out of marketing emails and of ad tracking;
• withdraw any consent you gave (including health-data consent and cookie/ad-tracking consent) at any time, without affecting processing already carried out.

To exercise any of these, email support@understoodme.com from the address you used. We will verify your request and respond within the time the applicable law allows. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

California privacy rights (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, gives you the right to:

• Know and access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collect, use, and disclose.
• Delete personal information we have collected from you.
• Correct inaccurate personal information.
• Opt out of the “sale” or “sharing”of your personal information. We do not sell your information for money, but our use of advertising cookies/pixels for targeted advertising may be considered “sharing.” You can opt out by declining or withdrawing consent on the cookie banner, or by emailing us.
• Limit use of sensitive personal information. Your health-related quiz answers are sensitive personal information; we use them only to provide the product you requested and never for advertising.
• Non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a different level of service for exercising these rights.

To make a California request, email support@understoodme.com. You may use an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf.

Other state privacy rights

Residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, and other states with comprehensive consumer-privacy laws have similar rights — to access, correct, and delete their personal information, to obtain a portable copy, and to opt out of targeted advertising and any “sale” of personal data. You can exercise these rights by emailing support@understoodme.com. If we deny your request, you may appeal by replying to our response.

Cookies and tracking

We set strictly necessary cookies that make the site work. Analytics and advertising cookies (including the Meta and Google pixels) load only after you accept them on the cookie banner; declining or changing your choice also serves as your opt-out of “sale/sharing” and targeted advertising. You can change your choice at any time.

Children

UnderstoodMe is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

We may update this policy; the date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be communicated where appropriate.
